Give bitcoin like a gift card.

Type an amount, add a message, and hand someone a card with real bitcoin on it. Thank a friend, or give your customers bitcoin back.

From your phone to theirs in three steps

A gift takes about ten seconds. The person receiving it doesn’t need anything except their phone’s camera.

  1. Type an amount

Enter how much you want to give, in dollars. CryptoBack converts it to bitcoin at today’s price.

  2. Add a message and send

Write a few words or pick one ready-made, then send. A new key is created and the bitcoin moves onto it.

  3. They take a photo

The card fills your screen. The photo is the gift: the key on it opens the bitcoin at cryptoback.org.

We don’t accept bitcoin. We give it back.

Keep your prices, your till, cash and card. After each sale, give your customer a small slice back in bitcoin. You pay for marketing only when someone has already bought.

  • Nothing changes at checkout. People pay the way they always do. You never have to accept bitcoin.
  • No sign-up, no contract. Open the app with a phrase only you know, top it up, and start.
  • CryptoBack takes no cut. You only pay the Bitcoin network fee for each gift.
  • Every gift is on record. See which cards were opened, and show a card again if a customer lost their photo.

What one $20 sale costs you

  • Delivery appa 15–30% cut of every order$3–6
  • 20% discountand a lower price in people’s heads$4
  • 5% in bitcoinafter the money is in your till$1

And ads? Search ads cost restaurants about $2 a click, and about $30 for each new customer who calls or orders, paid before anyone buys (LocaliQ, 2026).

Example figures. Your own costs will differ, and each gift also pays a Bitcoin network fee of a few cents.

At the counter

The customer pays as usual. You type the amount, send, and turn your phone around. They take a photo. It takes a few seconds.

“Thanks for coming in. Here’s a little bitcoin back. Take a photo of this.”

Start with a $100 test

  1. Top up $100. At 5% of a $20 sale, that rewards dozens of customers.
  2. Reward your next 30 customers, then watch. Do they come back? Do they bring a friend?
  3. See which cards were opened, and when. Keep going or stop. You’ve spent about what a few days of ads cost.

Someone gave you a card?

The key on your card is real bitcoin. Treat the photo like cash: whoever has the key can spend it, including the person who gave it to you.

  • Open it here. Type the key at the top of this page, exactly as it appears on the card.
  • Move it the same day. Send it to a Bitcoin wallet of your own, then delete the photo. Photos sync to the cloud, so never post it or share it.
  • Works without us too. The key is a standard Bitcoin mini private key. Wallets like Electrum can import it directly.

This has been tried before

About ten years ago, a small Telegram group tried the simplest version: post a photo of a shopping receipt and a bitcoin address, get a little bitcoin back.

Most of the people who joined had never touched bitcoin. Word spread from friend to friend. Each reward was worth a few cents, and some of those people still hold theirs today. What was missing back then was a shop paying for it, and a simple way to hand out keys. CryptoBack is that missing piece.

A friend, years ago. The people bitcoin could help the most are the ones who can’t buy it. So we started giving it back.

Your keys never leave your phone

CryptoBack runs entirely in your browser. There is no CryptoBack server holding your money, and no account that can be frozen or hacked.

Nothing is stored

Your phrase turns into a key on your device, every time you open the app. We never see it.

Real bitcoin, on-chain

Every gift is a regular Bitcoin transaction you can look up on any public explorer.

Open code

The code is public on GitLab, so anyone can check exactly what it does with your keys.

Learn by doing

A first gift card is the easiest way to understand keys, addresses and transactions. No lecture needed.

Questions

Is it real bitcoin?

Yes. Every gift is a real transaction on the Bitcoin network. The amount you see in dollars is converted at the current price when you send it, so its dollar value moves with the price of bitcoin afterwards.

Do I need an account?

No. You open your wallet with a phrase only you know. The same phrase always opens the same wallet, from any phone. Choose something long and unusual, and keep it safe: it is the only way back in.

What does it cost?

CryptoBack is free and takes no percentage. Each gift pays a Bitcoin network fee, shown before you send. You can pick a slower, cheaper fee or a faster one.

Do I have to accept bitcoin as payment?

No. Your prices, checkout and payments stay exactly as they are. You only use bitcoin to give something back after the sale.

What if the price of bitcoin drops?

Top up small amounts as you go, the way you would top up any marketing budget. Then the price can only move a little between buying and giving. A gift is a thank-you, not an investment.

What if the person loses the photo?

As the giver, you can show any card again from the Gifts tab, as long as you still have your phrase. You can also see whether a card has been opened yet.

Can someone else use my card?

Anyone who sees the key can open the gift, the same way anyone holding cash can spend it. Keep the photo private, and move the bitcoin to your own wallet if you plan to keep it.

How do I record it for taxes?

Ask your accountant before you start. Rules for bitcoin and for customer rewards differ by country.

Who is behind CryptoBack?

An open idea that has been giving bitcoin back since the Telegram days. No company, no token, no revenue. Every early payout is public in the @CryptoBack group, and the code is public on GitLab.

Which wallets can open a card?

The key is a standard Bitcoin mini private key. You can open it here, at cryptoback.org, or import it into wallets that support mini keys, such as Electrum.

It’s free to start. All you need is a phrase and a little bitcoin.
